January CC

Confection Connection 2010 {Sisters: Sole to Soul} is off to a great start! What an evening! More ladies came than we expected but we were so, so delighted to have each and every one of them there! We thank all of you for being so patient and understanding as we scrambled to bring in more chairs. We know how cramped you were and are working to figure out a plan for next month. So, don't worry! It won't always be like that!

Many thanks also to Tracee Smoak for bringing us such a wonderful message. God used her to bless us all and for that we give Him the glory.

The pictures are posted below. They are quite wonderful! Unfortunately, we didn't get any of Tracee or Michele of Molly's Treats. We are so bummed about that! Next time, the photographer will do better!

We're thanking God for how He worked last night and for how He'll work in the future. Praise Him!

...{HUMBLE PIE}...

This past month at Confection Connection I served up a themed pie recipe for each month until we meet again in January. September's Pie went with the topic of the night which was HUMILITY. I suggested that next time you need to say "I'M SORRY" forget the card and flowers, instead bake a homemade Humble Pie, put it on a cute plate, wrap it up, and tie on a note of apology.

Although, I did not need to say SORRY to anyone (that I know of), I want to keep up with my goal of baking these "Pies of the Month" so tonight I baked this custard-like pie. This recipe is so easy, it was indeed a very HUMBLE pie!

REVIEW: After 45 minutes of baking, my pie never really set, so I had to increase the baking time by 10 minutes. The center was still runny. However it tasted really good (and fattening). What I found in my research re: the bake time/consistency is that this is an old Southern recipe known as Vinegar Pie. HERE is another variation that I think I would try next time to see if I had more luck getting it to set. Another thought was that my butter was too soft. Anyone else try this recipe? Perhaps we need a Pie of the Month Club...Hmmm...

It's Simple...It's Southern....It Says I'm Sorry...
and it was September's Pie Recipe.

Until We Meet Again

Well, Ladies...

The 2008/2009 season of The Confection Connection Reflection Series has come to a close. It was fun, wasn't it? We had a blast and hope you did too. Many, many thanks to all of you for making it such a special time when we can be girly girls who love Jesus and love having fun!

If you weren't able to be there the night of our September get-together, you may be wondering what's next. Not to worry, we do have plans in the works.

At our last two meetings, we asked you to fill out questionnaires that would give us an idea of what you thought of Confection Connection as a whole. First, let us say that we are so thankful for your encouraging words and your great ideas! Second, please know that we have read each and every one of them and are not taking your thoughts lightly. We truly do want God to use this ministry to bless and encourage you.

For that reason and because of the upcoming busy holiday season, we've decided to take a break for the months of October, November and December. Not only will this give us all the opportunity to bask in the joy and excitement of the season, but it will also give us the chance to work on a few changes and tweaks for next season. None of the details have been solidified yet. But, this we promise: Confection Connection will start again on January 12, 2010 at 6:30 pm. Note the new start time and mark your calendars now!

So, for now, although we aren't meeting together monthly, don't think for a second that we aren't thinking of you, praying about where God will lead this ministry and working behind the scenes to plan, prepare and gear up for a brand new season.

We wish you all a most blessed fall and winter and we're already looking forward to seeing you in January!

"I thank my God upon every remembrance of you." {Phillipians 1:3}

Because of His "Sweet" Love...

PS...See below for a teaser video of some of the things next season may hold. Pay close attention! {You will want to mute the music player at the bottom of the page so you can hear.}
